the second mörk release finally gets out of the blocks, helmed by italian analogue explorer raw m.t. with some seriously heavy cuts under his belt, we coaxed him out of hiding for a varied 12- of low-slung house, dreamy beachside dreams and hammering arpeggiated techno, cut deep and heavy over two sides of wax. la duna is a deep 4am roller. murky and shrouded in analogue warmth, it steadily aches and strains through passages of pad filled delirium whilst the percussive echoes of lost nights swirl and clatter. untitled is a beachside dreamy acid number. steady slow grooves undulate under tender vocals with slowly yearning pads and deep acid bringing the light out of the darkness. flipping over to the b-side, strike ups the ante with some seriously driving war-game techno, drenching in arpeggiated madness and washed over with frenetic acid lines.

entitled narita, the release is inspired by, and dedicated to, japan, and the tracks are a collage of all the experiences and emotions the producer has picked up there whilst on his travels. this release was also due to be the 44th on the label (which has now made it up to number 67) and so has clearly been cooking for a long time. once again it proves the man behind it to be focused on stripped back and hypnotic grooves, shadowy textures and subliminal synths that are abstract and truly heady. up first, sleepless is a spooky and hypnotic techno roller with icy pads and rubber drums that roll on like a haunted midnight train burrowning deep into your brain. ebisu is even more reserved, with just a light, skipping kick and tinkling, glassy keys suspending you in a wide open space of abstract atmospheric soun d. on th e flip side, mountain splitter is more urgent and immediate, with nervy pads this time racing alongside woodpecker precision and supple drums. it s heady stuff that really distracts you from the world before finally trance is a wash of grainy white noise and groaning synths that soundtrack a word deep down in the depths of the ocean. svreca is a master of getting deep inside both body and brain and does so in different but captivating ways with all four of these cuts.

this february nightdrivers deliver three first-rate cuts on holic trax for the quando party dove vai ? ep. following on from burnski s the hours ep which saw love from names like mr g, catz n dogz, dam swindle and eats everything, holic trax returns this february with nightdrivers quando party dove vai ? . since delivering their debut release on bosconi records back in 2013 the berlin-based duo nightdrivers have been going from strength to strength stacking up further releases on claap, their own nightdrivers label and now holic trax. to get things underway the light pads of resta pure dove sei give the opening track a floaty quality while the weighty percussion and subtle rhythms build proceedings into a steady and infectious groove. nightdrivers appear to go up a gear as the ep progresses with the rippling drums and dynamic arrangements of la ronde suite (but not for me) while fast cars maintains the lively vibe of its predecessor and frenetically bubbles along over busy modulations, wacky intonations and infectious licks to dish up a suitably punchy close to this bouncy ep.

following on from the the likes of the excellent son.sine re-issue, delsin kicks off 2015 with another one in the form of micronism s steps to recovery ep. originally released on nurture records in 1999, the ep, which comes in black and limited coloured vinyl, is a bonafide deep house classic from the short live career of new zealander denver mccarthy. engaging causelss mercy is a contemplative, atmospheric affair with soft drums and celestial pads that could roll and roll forever and you d never get tired. the quiet mind is just as deep, but the spiralling pads and rippling melodies here are more colourful and charming. both tracks are hugely spacious, luxurious affairs whilst constructing space on the flip is a more stripped back and humid number that is more enclosed and oppressive for cosy back room spaces. finally, the title track is a playful, elastic house track with heartwarming hooks and pinging drums. this tasteful ep shines a light on some definitively deep tracks that really do deserve the attention that will now inevitably come their way.

jeroens commemorating his roots by re-releasing a selection of search records from days gone by. each has been remastered in such a way that it retains its authentic and timeless energy. pressed onto fresh vinyl, this limited series contains some of the finest search tracks ever to be put out, handpicked by jeroen himself. in light of that it might be easily forgotten that jeroen search has been creating techno since the early nineties. and that he ran one of the most influential labels around back then: >search<. between 1996 and 2001 it was home to a host of releases, many from jeroen himself. released on vinyl and without any reprints, they ve since hidden in the record collections of a select few.

an ornate globe made with many layers of exotic woods spins on its axis. through the stained glass window diffuse light casts russet hews across the study. looking out over the walled garden to an orchard, great swollen purple and black fruits hang malevolently from mangled moss-covered trees. a gentle wind pushes the tangled branches and as they creak and moan the fruits thud lazily to the ground, gathering in mouldering clusters on the dewy grass.
